Assignment_2_interview with a local student
The name of my first interviewee is Maria Burgos who is from Puerto Rico. She has studied in Department of Plant Pathology since 3 years ago, and lives in Pennsylvania for ten years. She is married, and has a daughter and a son both in Junior high schools.
How does State College (or Pennsylvania) compare to your hometown?
First of all, she felt that weather is so different between Pennsylvania and her hometown. The winter here was a new thing for her. But in Puerto Rico, it is tropic area and always hot all the year. She likes the lives in State College.
Do you like studying at Penn State? Why or why not? (ask follow-up questions)
She definely loves studying in Penn State, because in the spare time, there are diverse things to do around the university for people, such as single students, married students, and children. For academic studyding, She thinks that it's a good opportunity to study with students from all over the world, so people can learn from each other and get access to different cultures.
Names of two good restaurants? (ask follow-up questions)
1) Deli Restaurant is an American style cuisin restaurant. They usually go for different sandwiches, spinach, and any Latino food, because her kids like sandwiches, and something easy and they know what they are.
2) Applebees
They like it because there more options for hamburgs and steaks. The desserts there are also good. They will go for it if they still feel hungry after steaks.
Two interesting things to do on weekends?
Usually she has work to do in weekends as well. However, she tries to do the work for a day, and spends at least one day for her family.
1) Go to the library with her daughter in downtown, watch sport games in which her son plays.
2) Visit friends, or go hiking in countryside.
Anyway, she likes doing something outsides and inside doors with her family.
Something I should see or do while I study at the Penn State.
Go to see some sports you've never seen or done before. There are a diverse of sports going in Penn State, so it is a good chance to give a try. For example, we should go to Bryce Jordan Center for a concert, and go to Eisenhower Auditorium for a theater like a ballet or a play. If donot know how to dance, you should learn salsa that has free lessons in Penn State.
